Festival by the Marsh is an integrated arts festival featuring high quality theatre and music performances, fine arts displays and demonstrations, other forms of artistic expression, and Educational Programmes for young people. The flagship event of the festival will be a two-week run of The Tempest to be presented on the beautiful Mount Allison campus.

The Festival takes place in a town noted for its creative energy - Sackville, New Brunswick. Sackville was chosen to be a Cultural Capitol of Canada this year and we’re very proud to be a part of the program of events.

Located at the crossroads of the Maritime provinces, Sackville is a half-hour from Moncton, and two hours from Saint John, New Brunswick, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Charlottetown, PEI. Festival by the Marsh is sponsored by Mount Allison University, the Town of Sackville, The J.E.A. Crake Foundation, the Marjorie Young Bell Foundation, and is an annual event.

The Festival will showcase and develop both university and local talent, bring visitors and tourists to Sackville and Mount Allison, enrich the educational life of the university and Sackville communities, and celebrate the arts. Audiences and performers will be drawn from the greater Sackville area as well as from the Maritime region, and nationally. Festival activities will occur on the Mount Allison campus and in local galleries, the Live Bait space, and local music venues.
